Martha Townsend, Founder
Martha Townsend is a seasoned marketer with more than 25 years of commercial experience in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry with a focus on personalized diagnostics. As the founder of Market Ready Rx, she successfully supports pharma and in vitro diagnostic companies with planning and implementing commercial launches of breakthrough products.
Ms. Townsend’s capabilities include strategic market planning, business development and launching successful commercial programs in the diagnostic marketplace. She has held management positions at Chiron Diagnostics and Dako, Inc., where she led teams in complex, integrated commercial launches of diagnostic and pharmaceutical products. She was also responsible for international marketing, sales and service in the European and Latin American markets implementing export market objectives, analyzing sales activities and market conditions, and selecting distributors.
In 1999, she launched the first companion diagnostic, HercepTest, to select women with end-stage breast cancer who were likely to benefit from Herceptin. Her experience in defining a product launch strategy and executing complex personalized diagnostic market launches is evidenced by her success in launching more than 12 companion diagnostics and supporting countless other complicated system launches within molecular, tissue based testing, microbiology, flow cytometry and most recently, next generation sequencing. Martha holds a B.S. in Biology from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles and a Medical Marketing certificate from UCLA Anderson School of Business.
Kate Clark, Key Account Manager
Kate Clark is a thoughtful and respected professional with more than eleven years in the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) consulting arena. As a Key Account Manager at Market Ready Rx, she supports global clients in planning and executing complex companion diagnostic launches, leading strategic initiatives such as defining and delivering voice of the customer (VOC) market research insights, and managing launch teams in the creation and deployment of launch programs. Ms. Clark ensures that client commercial goals are met on time and on budget.
Previously, she served as a Consultant at Boston Biomedical Consultants, Inc., where she led a team in the specialized surveillance of the global immunochemistry and point of care diagnostics markets. She has wide-ranging knowledge of the IVD market, including competitive dynamics, product pipeline analysis, and end-user dynamics. Kate has extensive experience in primary and secondary market research, project management, and strategy consulting. Kate received a B.S. in Neuroscience from St. Lawrence University.
Kathy Morgan, Marketing Consultant Analyst
Kathy Morgan is a customer centric professional with more than 17 years experience within the tissue-based diagnostics sector. In her role at Market Ready Rx, she brings her technical acumen to all commercial programs providing depth and accuracy to client deliverables. While at Agilent Technologies (Dako) she managed a diverse team of technical specialists in a high-paced technical support call center.
She has worked on global, cross functional teams supporting Sales, Marketing and R&D groups with end user technical design input. Her experience with FDA compliance and Quality Systems Regulations (QSR) enables her to deliver content in a highly regulated global environment. She has experience supporting the biotech industry with in vitro diagnostics (IVD), instrumentation platforms, and companion diagnostics. Kathy received a B.S. in Biology from University of Colorado at Boulder.
Doug Sweet, IVD Strategic Advisor
Doug has 30+ years of experience in Business Development, Marketing and Sales for companies in the Diagnostic Industry (Clinical and Anatomic Pathology Laboratories), Life Science and BioPharma. Recently he was the VP of Marketing and Sales for BioImagene, after three years at Celerus Diagnostics.
Prior experience includes the following Start-up companies: Ventana Medical Systems, BioPath Corporation and Molecular Devices, as well as Syva, an early stage division of Syntex Corporation. Doug has managed a team of 175 Sales and Marketing professionals at Dako Corporation and Marketing efforts for New England Nuclear and Corning Medical. Doug has also recently consulted for Agilent Technologies, Exagen Diagnostics, HistoRx, Pathworks Diagnostics, Diagnostic BioSystems, OncoHealth, Arbor Vita, Epitomics/Abcam, Boston BioMedical Consultants, Lathrope Engineering, Bio SB, System Dynamics, Sakura and Spring BioSystems.
Doug holds a BS in Biology from the University of Oregon and an MBA from the Presidential/Key Executive program at Pepperdine University.
Christina Scalise, Marketing Specialist
Christina Scalise is a marketing professional with extensive experience in product management, marketing, and quality management systems. In her role at Market Ready Rx, Christina leads the team in providing high impact marketing with a progressive approach.
Throughout her career, Christina has focused on small to mid-sized medical device companies, gaining in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry experience within the immunohistochemistry (IHC) and microbiology sectors. Areas of expertise include: product branding, global marketing, international sales, and quality assurance. Christina has a comprehensive background in product management from development to maturity, generating marketing programs and assets, social media management and website design. She also holds an Exemplar Global Certification as a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 which provides the unique perspective of viewing marketing needs from a compliant quality viewpoint. Christina received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from California State University, Sacramento.
Katherine Steele, Sr. Executive Assistant
Katherine Steele is a business operations professional with experience in marketing project management, sales, human resources, business systems organization, and executive support. In her role as Sr. Executive Assistant at Market Ready Rx, she is the backbone of the organization, supporting the professional services team and the day-to-day operational functions for Market Ready Rx.
Her 10+ year career has spanned from small to mid-sized businesses with experience within diverse sectors managing marketing programs for a national staffing company and providing administrative support to a legal practice and entertainment professionals.
